My Laser Hair Removal Experience
I just had a laser hair removal session today on my arms and my legs. I have been getting laser hair removal for about a year now and love my results! The Candela GentleMax Pro is the laser that my technician uses on me. I have been treated with another laser in the past and I prefer the Candela GentleMax Pro. This laser is like two lasers in one. The GentleMax Pro combines Candela’s GentleYag and their GentleLase. The combination of lasers makes the GentleMax Pro effective on more skin types. Laser hair removal works by targeting the pigment in the hair and zapping the follicle. Laser works the best on people with fair skin and dark hair.
The duration of laser hair removal treatment really depends on the person being treated and how they respond to the laser. Someone with much thicker hair may require more sessions than a person with thinner hair.
My appointment today was really quick and easy. I can barely feel the laser in some areas were there is little to no hair. In areas where there is still some hair, the laser feels a bit like a hot rubber band snapping my skin. The technician increases the laser strength with every treatment, so I have noticed the pain a little more recently. The GentleMax Pro Laser blows a stream of cool air that really soothes my skin.
I go to an appointment every 4-6 weeks depending on the area being treated. My hair has almost completely stopped growing at this point. After my first several appointments I noticed my hair just grew slower and I didn’t need to shave as often. After several sessions my hair growth continued to slow down and the hair was not as dark or thick. At this point, about a year into treatment, all of my hair is mostly all gone. I could stop my laser hair removal sessions now and be totally happy with my results.
I took pictures and videos at my appointment today. You can see the laser zapping my hair follicles, as well as the redness afterward. Some redness and irritation normal after laser hair removal and goes away after about 30 minutes.
